Hey there, I’m Brittany!
First things first, thank you for getting this far and reading more about me! I’m thrilled to potentially have you in the studio, and I know that this is such an intimate and vulnerable experience to go ahead and leap into. That’s why I always want my clients to feel comfortable with me, and able to be their true selves so their personalities shine through in the images. So let me tell you a little bit about myself and my studio!
My photography journey began in a High School film class, but since I was sixteen and had no idea what I remotely wanted to do with my life, it just as soon fizzled. Let’s skip some High School trauma stories and fade into the college years! In my mind I wanted to become a Special Education teacher, so I joined the community college train and majored in Liberal Arts and took all the electives I could in Special Education and Psychology. All the while I was volunteering my time at a Therapeutic Horseback Riding facility to gain experience in the field; I should note in here that I’ve been riding horses since I was three so this was a multifaceted interest for me. With about three classes left for my Associates I dropped out of college upon the realization that it simply was not the career path for me personally, and went on to do a little self discovery that is expected in your early twenties.
CUE TO MOTHERHOOD! I met my now husband on a whirlwind trip to Italy in that ‘self discovery’ phase and immediately knew he was who I wanted to spend my life with. In 2012 we had our son and like every mother, I wanted to document his life the best I could. Like many ‘mom togs’ I went and purchased and entry level dslr and a kit lens, but it quickly became a passion and I dove deeper into my desire to learn. Now this wasn’t simple google searches or a class at the rec center type of learning, I used to stay up late at night after my son went to sleep every night and try to absorb as much knowledge as I could. I was hungry to learn more about the craft, and just like anything else in life the amount of time you put into an interest generally pays off. After a few years I was quite good and began photographing families and couples in my spare time, and quickly that turned into becoming solely a Wedding Photographer and officially opening my business in 2016!
While I do love Wedding Photography very much, my schedule is often hard to pin down and I find a lot of stress revolving around childcare, for 2019 I’ve decided to no longer accept wedding and elopement clients. I’ve found such healing in Boudoir and Glamour photography, not only for my clients but for myself as well. Every woman I photograph has her own unique story, and in some way finds through our time together a re-connection to who she is at the core, and I absolutely love that I get to be a part of that experience.
My current studio is in Lacey, Washington and I absolutely adore it. I aim for a bohemian/eclectic style and am always adding new pieces and trying out new things! My goal is to always be growing and expanding and taking opportunities as they come, I have found such passion and growth with photography and business as a whole and I’d love to have you along for part of my journey.
I absolutely look forward to our time together, and as always your interest in my business is appreciated greatly!
oh and before you go, please enjoy these photos of myself and my doofy dogs, Otis & Bear. They are my ‘assistants’ (very good at cleaning up food messes) and are a crucial aspect of the companies HR department! (if a big silly dog loving on you doesn’t cheer you up, I don’t know what will!)
